The FAA released a statement in response to questions about an ordinance under consideration in the tiny farming community of Deer Trail, Colo., that would encourage hunters to shoot down drones. The administration reminded the public that it regulates the nation’s airspace, including the airspace over cities and towns.A drone “hit by gunfire could crash, causing damage to persons or property on the ground, or it could collide with other objects in the air,” the statement said. “Shooting at an unmanned aircraft could result in criminal or civil liability, just as would firing at a manned airplane.”
My thought upon reading this is that as the FAA is the one regulating airspace, the liability is all on them. If the government sends a drone over privately owned property without warrant, that is trespass. Folks owning the land have every right to reasonably defend their property, liberty, lives.
In a recent statement, President Obama hinted that he has the authority to initiate domestic drone strikes against American citizens, though he suggested the rules for such attacks inside of the United States would be different from those governing actions on foreign soil.
He better hope that no American finds out a drone is used to kill or injure an American on American soil. I have a dire feeling such an action would be seen as a direct act of war. Been plenty enough already to incite war between We the People and our government, feel this would be the spark to ignite the powder keg.
This most assuredly is not the manifest America, I or others chose to defend. This lends to having nightmares where by one shoot kittens with a twenty two calibre rifle at point blank range for no reason at all. Quite an unpleasant last dreaming moment prior to waking, I can assure you.
